A Love Destined by Fate: The Story of Danica and Nelson

Back in college, we were classmates in a subject. But during the height of the pandemic, in a world of modular learning and online classes, we barely noticed each other's presence. We were too busy with academic tasks, too focused on our studies. In a time when love seemed risky and uncertain, falling in love was something we had to set aside.

“Is there still time to fall in love?” — that was the question in an age of fear and doubt.

But when love is truly destined, the right time will come.

And it did. In an unexpected turn of events, our paths crossed again — during a demo teaching in a public school. We were both chasing the same dream: to become public school teachers.

While waiting for their turn to have their demo teaching, Nelson caught a glimpse of Danica. There was something familiar about her eyes, her smile, and her presence. And Danica, too, felt as if she knew this man.

“Good luck, Ma’am,” Nelson said — a simple greeting that carried with it a spark of recognition and something more.

That’s where their connection began again. From a passing glance, from a brief exchange, it grew into regular conversations over social media. As days passed, they got to know each other more deeply — not just as former classmates, but as two hearts slowly falling in love.

Nelson did not waste time. He went straight to his parents and, with full sincerity, said:

“Ma, Pa... This is Danica.”

It didn’t take long before he introduced Danica to his family — a clear sign of his genuine intentions. Danica, for her part, wholeheartedly accepted Nelson’s affection.

They were both teachers at a private institution, and together they dreamed of entering the public school system — a step closer to fulfilling their mission as educators. And the heavens favored them — both of them were accepted.

With the realization of their professional dreams came the blossoming of a deeper, stronger love. They faced many trials, many uncertainties, but they weathered every storm together. Every hardship made them stronger. Every victory, they celebrated side by side.

During a trip to Taiwan, in a lantern city, Danica noticed something unusual. On the lantern they were about to release into the sky, Nelson had written the words "Wedding" and "Proposal." It made her wonder — was he giving a hint?

And then came the right time. In front of God and their shared faith, Nelson knelt down in the Church. Holding a ring and a heart full of love, he asked the question that would change everything:

“Danica, will you marry me?”

Amid the candles, the prayers, and tears of joy, Danica answered without a moment of hesitation:

“Yes.”

A simple “Yes” filled with love, dreams, and a promise of forever.
