Our Love Story
Our story began in 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, at a place where love is least expected—Koinonia Funeral Homes. I saw him there, in one quiet corner, writing in the ledger. He looked so focused, so calm. His face had a soft pinkish glow, and there was something about him that caught my heart in just one glance.
Unexpectedly, he added me on Facebook—but then deleted it right away. That made me wonder *why*… and I couldn’t help but be curious. So I made the move and added him back. That small click turned into chats, laughter, and stories shared. After months of online conversations, we finally met for our first date at Boulevard in Dumaguete.
He was a simple, hardworking man—an all-around staff at our Manjuyod chapel. I was a cashier back then at the main office in Sibulan. At first, I felt a little disappointed, wanting to spend more time with him but realizing I had competition—not another woman, but his devotion to his work. Eventually, I began to understand. I saw how much he carried as the eldest in his family and how deeply he served those grieving through his work at the funeral home. That’s when I began to love him even more.
After just a month or two, we officially became a couple. From there, we built a love grounded in faith, understanding, and support. He was by my side through everything—from our first Valentine’s date at Azalea in San Jose to every celebration with both our families. He never left.
He stood by me through my journey as a working student in my third year, through my LET review and examination, all the way until I became a licensed professional teacher. He comforted me with God’s Word, something I never found in anyone else.
Now, five years later, after seeing my best and even my worst, he chose to stay. He prayed. He asked my parents for their blessing. He proposed to me—and I said yes.
Who would've thought that from a simple, quiet moment in a funeral home, our love story would grow into something so lasting and beautiful? From *pamalaye* to planning our wedding, this journey has been filled with God’s grace, love, and purpose.
