Our Love Story

In the quiet charm of Ormoc City, two lives from faraway places unexpectedly crossed paths. Alvi, who grew up in Dumaguete and whose family roots trace back to Bicol, arrived in Ormoc for work as an engineer. Mary Ann, born and raised in Ormoc, was working as a front desk receptionist at the hotel where Alvi stayed.

For months, they crossed paths without noticing each other, just casual encounters between guest and staff. Everything changed when a simple conversation about company parking led to playful teasing from Mary Ann’s colleagues and, eventually, Alvi’s invitation for coffee. Mary Ann couldn’t join the first time, but when he asked again, she said yes. What was meant to be a short coffee meet-up turned into hours of conversation that stretched until 2 AM, the first of many coffee dates that followed.

From that day on, what began as casual encounters between a hotel guest and a receptionist blossomed into something much more. Or as Mary Ann fondly says, “Guest ko noon… Ging ko na ngayon.” Mary Ann admired Alvi’s humility, respectfulness, and down-to-earth nature. Alvi, in turn, loved Mary Ann’s beauty, generosity, and determination in life. Despite coming from different provinces, it felt like destiny had brought them together right there in Ormoc.

Two months before their sixth anniversary, on April 21, 2025, Alvi got down on one knee and asked Mary Ann to marry him. It was a perfect moment, a love story written by fate and made beautiful in God’s perfect timing.

“He has made everything beautiful in His time.” – Ecclesiastes 3:11
